The French Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SFBBM), originally founded as the Society of Biological Chemistry, was established on March 14, 1914, at the Collège de France in Paris by Professor Maurice Nicloux. New statutes were adopted in 1933, leading to the Society being recognized as a public-interest organization. It finally adopted its current name, SFBBM, in 1990.
