SFBBM Junior Section

A space dedicated to early-career scientists in biochemistry and molecular biology.

By young scientists, for young scientists

A collective dynamic to advance research

The SFBBM Junior Section was created in 2023 and aims to bring together young scientists under 36 to build a community in France, following a “by the young, for the young” approach. We also offer activities throughout the year on topics such as careers, scientific writing, and funding opportunities, in both online and in-person formats.

See all the Thematic Groups

The SFBBM JS is also part of a European network of young researchers in biochemistry and molecular biology, coming from the Constituent Societies of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). Currently, 17 national societies are represented and our goal is to include them all in the near future. Our mission is to create connections among young scientists across Europe, promoting collaboration, mobility, and the sharing of experiences.

We also encourage local engagement by motivating young scientists to join their national societies and establish active junior sections. Additionally, we organize monthly online seminars led by young researchers, publish interviews and articles on the FEBS Network, host networking events (online or in person), and collaborate with FEBS journals, the Women in Science program, and advanced courses.

The Junior Section team

The Junior Section is run by a team of volunteer young scientists. They coordinate activities, organize events, and represent young members to the SFBBM board.
