The SFBBM established the “Article of the Month” award in 2011. It is intended for young researchers or PhD students under the age of 35, provided that they—or one of their co-authors—are members of the SFBBM with up-to-date membership, or join the SFBBM at the time the candidate submits their application.
Rules of the “Article of the Month” and “Article of the Year” Awards
Candidates submit to the Society a recent publication (less than twelve months old) of which they are the first author. Each month, one article is selected by an ad hoc committee and featured on the Society’s website and social media platforms. The winner receives a prize of €100 together with a free one-year membership to the SFBBM.
At the end of the year, one of the selected Articles of the Month is chosen and awarded “Article of the Year”. The winner is then invited to present their results at the annual SFBBM conference and receives a prize of €500. Travel expenses remain at the winner’s own cost.
The article must be accepted and accessible, whether published, in press, or online ahead of print, and remains eligible for twelve months following its publication date. The competition remains open even when only two applications are under consideration.
Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of their research topic or the journal in which they have published. The committee will ensure that all journals are represented among the selected articles.
How to apply for the Article of the Month Award?
Applicants should send the full reference of the article, its abstract in English, and a short personal presentation written in both French and English in the third person singular, including age, academic background, laboratory, scientific interests, and (optionally) a photograph, to the following members of the jury.
A quick reminder: the candidate or one of the co-authors of the article must be a member of the SFBBM.
